Winners of the unbiased.co.uk 2014 Media Awards

Last night saw financial advisers, journalists and industry product providers gathered together for the unbiased.co.uk 2014 Media Awards

The tenth annual awards was held at a drinks reception in central London and saw Anna Sofat from Addidi Wealth win Financial Adviser of the Year and Dave Penny from Invest Southwest pick up the coveted Judges’ Award.

This year saw a change to the awards line up, with 13 media adviser awards presented as well as seven journalist awards. Five new awards were introduced to recognise outstanding articles, written by top personal finance journalists.

The Judges’ Award was for outstanding contribution to the unbiased.co.uk campaign to promote the value of professional, whole-of-market financial advice to consumers.

The awards recognise and reward the valuable editorial written by the professional advisers and journalists who are members of the unbiased.co.uk Bluebook. The Bluebook is the industry’s media adviser directory – a resource for journalists looking to connect with advisers who provide expert commentary, insightful opinion and interesting case studies. Each of the categories were judged by an expert panel, including journalists, industry specialists and product providers, led by Karen Barrett, Chief Executive of unbiased.co.uk. The panel reviewed the entries and supporting evidence submitted by the shortlisted advisers and journalists to decide the winner of each category.

Karen Barrett, Chief Executive of unbiased.co.uk says that the submissions were of a particularly high standard this year. “While each category was strongly represented, the winners exemplify those who support the unbiased.co.uk campaign. I would also like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, judges, journalists and media advisers who have supported these awards.

“We’re continuing our campaign to promote the value of advice to consumers and this could not have been done without the help of our media advisers. These advisers go above and beyond their day job to educate consumers on the value of advice, and the journalists who continue to engage and educate their readers on the subject.”
